Evelyn Carlyle 84 of Rockford, passed away Friday April 30, 2010 after a lengthy illness.She was born to the late Emil and Anna Johnson, February 28, 1926 in Rockford, IL. Evelyn graduated from East High School in 1944 and later studied paralegal sciences. She married Donald Carlyle in 1948.Evy was employed at J.L. Clark for a number of years beginning in High School, which was where she met her beloved husband Don. Evy was instrumental in helping Don to start his business, Carlyle Auto Service. She also worked as a legal secretary for three local law firms. She was an avid antique dealer and collector. She had her own successful antique business, The Lonesome Pine. She was also an animal lover since her early childhood days. She had two beloved dogs, Cookie and Muffin.Evy was a lifelong member of Tabor Lutheran Church. She was baptized, confirmed and married there.Evelyn is survived by her husband Donald, Christine Barrick (Tony Meyers) of Cherry Valley. Three grandchildren, Cale Barrick, Dr. Kelsey Barrick and Chad Barrick; her sister, Lillian Carlyle of Lake Orion, Michigan; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pat and Joe Caronna of Durand, IL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.Evelyn was predeceased by her parents by her parents, Brother and sister-in-law. Ernest and and Sue Johnson and Robert Carlyle.Evelyn was a kind and generous lady. She will be missed by many.The family wishes to thank PA Peterson Center for Health and Transitions Hospice for there kind and compassionate care.Memorial Service will be held on Friday May 14, 2010 at 10:30am in Fitzgerald Funeral Home 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Visitation from 9:30am until time of service Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials to Noahs Ark and Tabor Lutheran Church.
