Evelyn C. Frat, 88, of Rockford, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014. Evelyn was born in Noxapater, MS, the daughter of the late Ray Camp and Sallie Camp. She spent most of her life in the greater Rockford area, graduating from Capron high School and rock Valley College, where she earned an Associate's Degree in Accounting. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Walter Frat.
Evelyn worked for many years at National Lock Company and Burns Security before retiring. She was an active member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church and had many friends who gathered at Doughboys Donuts on 11th St. in Rockford.
Evelyn is survived by her two daughters, Suzette (Carroll) Barnes (John Hardt) of Rockford and Georgia (Snow) Newhall (Paul Newhall) of Oak Hill, Va; six granddaughters, Theresa (Sawicki) Evans (Thomas Evans), Cathy (Sawicki) Harrolle (Thomas Harrolle) and Harriette (Sawicki) Steel (Douglas Steel) all of Rockford, Heidi (Puckett) Kellum (Jason Kellum) of Richmond, VA, Sarah Newhall (Matthew Heilemann) of Springfield, VA and Stephanie Newhall of Charlotte, NC; ten great-grandchildren, Candiss (Cogdill) Holdorf, Luke Sawicki, Ryan Cogdill, Susan Harrolle, Lacey Evans, Cody Evans, Heather Cogdill, Grace Harrolle, Jay Kellum, Sadie Kellum and four great-great-grandchildren, Eva, Isla, Sunny and Ryker. Her family was a great source of pride to her.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, Sept. 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Willwood Burial Park, 7000 West State St. Rockford with Pastor Dell Olson officiating. Visitation Thursday, Sept. 11 from 5-7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
