Eva Marie Braisted

October 11, 1910 — November 25, 2008

Eva Marie Braisted, 98 died on November 25, 2008 at Aspirus Lillian Kerr Healthcare Center in Phelps WI.  Born October 11, 1910 in Canton Il., the daughter of Ollie & John Hoover, she was one of seven children.  Eva moved to Rockford Il. and married Edward Braisted on February 28th 1947.  They had one daughter Linda. Eva was a faithful member of Third Presbyterian Church and Ruth Circle.  She especially enjoyed time spent assisting with the church suppers.  Eva was a Sunday school teacher,  Girl Scout Leader,  home care giver,  member of the Golden Agers and Rockford Womens Club.  Employed for many years by Atwood Industries, she enjoyed traveling the world and treasured her time with friends and family.  She was also a dedicated Cubs fan.  A long time resident of Burnham Terrace in Rockford where she enjoyed the company of many friends,  Eva moved to Lillian Kerr in 2005 to be near her daughter where she was an active resident until her death.  A highly skilled knitter and baker, Eva was known for her baby booties and blankets as well as her special fruit cakes,  pies and breads which were shared with friends and family.   Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Charles) Sauberlich of Watersmeet,  MI;  Grandchildren,  Dan (Deb Bridges) Sauberlich of Rockford,  Il.,  Colleen (Mike) Risik of Peshtigo,  Wi., John (Sheila) van Leeuwen of Rockford,  Il,  Louise (Jim) Stout of Grapeland, TX;  eight great-grandchildren,  seven great-great-grandchildren,  her sister Mary Onken of Canton,  Il,  several nieces, nephews and special friends Janet Kjellstom and Helen Dahlgren both of Rockford,  Il.  Predeceased by husband Edward, step-son Robert, step-daughter Jeanne,  sisters Edith,  Kate and Margaret,  brothers John and Frank.   Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Third Presbyterian Church in Rockford, with Rev.  Dr.  Murray Hanson officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Memorials may be made in Evas name to Third Presbyterian Church in Rockford, Aspirus Lillian Kerr Healthcare Center/Residence fund in Phelps, WI or Dr.  Kate Hospice, Woodruff WI.
