Eun K. Lim

Eun “Mark” Lim, 62, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2019 at his home in Rockford, Illinois, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 22, 1956 in South Korea and married Hae Kim on June 17, 1982. Upon marriage, Mark and Hae embarked on a new adventure and immigrated to the United States, the land of opportunity. They took on every opportunity presented to them, and Mark worked tirelessly to build a life for his family through his entrepreneurial ventures.

Mark loved his family, being surrounded by nature, camping, fishing, and golfing (and, boy did he love golfing!). He made it a point to live in the moment, every single day. He was known for making people laugh and for his ability to connect with everyone he met. HIs strong faith in Jesus inspired a spirit of generosity, as he was always the first to lend a hand to anyone in need.

He was nicknamed “Markgyver” because he could find a unique solution to any problem, no matter how big or small. His creativity and out-of-the-box thinking extended beyond problem-solving. Mark loved to invent new recipes, breathe new life to old treasures and find unique ways to bring a smile to anyone’s face. He is dearly missed and will forever live on through his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Hae Lim, daughter Diana Lim Marsden, son Charles Lim, son-in-law Eric Marsden, sister-in-law Young Kim, brother-in-law Jay Kim, niece Jane Kim Funk, nephew Wayne Kim, nephew-in-law Erik Funk, niece-in-law Mallory Kim, grandsons Fitz and Whit Funk, and siblings and extended family in South Korea.

The family would like to thank everyone who supported Eun/Mark, especially in the last year and a half. He daily remarked “I am so happy” as he reflected on all of the people who expressed their support and love for him and the family. A special thank you to the team at UPS, especially Mary in HR and Matthew his supervisor; his antique mall friends; his care team of nurses during his visits to OSF St. Anthony’s; and the Marsden family.

Memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home (1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108). Visitation with the family will be from 2:00pm until the time of the service. A celebration of life reception will follow.
