Eugenie Hafeli

Eugenie Hafeli, age 91, of Rockford, Illinois peacefully went home to Heaven to be with her Savior and reunited with family on Tuesday morning, December 29, 2020. She was a faithful wife, beloved mother, and loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love for Jesus was genuine and evidenced by many years of faithful service in various ministries in her local church. She was an unashamed witness for her Lord sharing the gospel with family and friends in her homeland and in the states. Eugenie was born on October 17, 1929, in Lausanne, Switzerland to Ernest and Berthe (Pahud) Danalet. She married Heini on January 29, 1955 in Kircherued, Switzerland. They came to America later that year and started a family in Darlington, Wisconsin. They shared 60 wonderful years together. She was a faithful member of Berean Baptist Church and also North Love Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening with her husband and canning fruit from their orchard of trees. She was skillful in the kitchen and especially enjoyed fondue and raclette with family. The fresh aroma of home baked goods could always be found in her home.

She is survived by her brothers Michel and Marcel; children Max (Jan), Eric (Denise), and Regina Swanson (Mark); her grandchildren Lukas (Kari), Eric II (Jill), Heather McClure (Spencer), Matt (Jillian), and Elisha Swanson; and great-grandchildren Max, Sawyer, Tyson, Broderick, Trase, Josephine, Tripp, Eden, Roman, and Deacon. Eugenie was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and loving husband, Heini.

A service celebrating Eugenie’s life will be held on Saturday, January 9th, , 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Berean Baptist Church, 5626 Safford Road Rockford, Illinois, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
