Eugene “Gene” Howes Johnson Jr., 54, of Dixon, passed away February 15, 2018 in his home. Born August 8, 1963 in Rockford; he was the son of Eugene H. and Diane (Grosvenor) Johnson. He married Susan Lawson on April 11, 1998 in Dixon.
He was employed with Local 23, Plumbers & Pipe-fitters for 35 years.
Gene was a very proud, loving papa to his 3 children and 4 grandchildren. As well as a loving son, uncle and brother. He had a special bond with his sisters, Jennifer and Jayne.
He was an avid Cubs fan and was so happy when they won the World Series in 2016. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and fishing. He liked to tell jokes and make people laugh. Gene would always refer to Sue’s siblings as his favorite sister-in-law or brother-in-law, depending on which one he was talking to at the time.
Sue and Gene were truly soulmates with an unconditional love for each other. They were each other’s Best Friend. If you looked for the meaning of true love in any type of dictionary, in a book or on the internet, you would know that the definition completely described Gene and Sue’s love for each other.
Gene personified kindness and gentleness. Heaven’s gain is earth’s loss. We will all miss your beautiful spirit and caring nature. In other words, you were what those left behind refer to as “One of the Good Guys”
