Eugene "Gene" Edward Hoglund

Eugene “Gene” Edward Hoglund, 84, lifelong resident of Rockford, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 29, 2021. He was born May 6, 1937, the son of Erik and Ragna (Waarvik) Hoglund. Gene was a graduate of Rockford East High School. He married Lois Beckman on April 20, 1957. She passed away March 17, 2008. He then married Beth Lynn Anderson on June 11, 2011. Gene worked as a tool and die maker at Industrial Molds for many, many years.
Above all, Gene was a follower of Jesus Christ and shared his faith freely with anyone who would listen. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church from his birth until 1998. He then attended Heartland Community Church where he served as an elder until 2007. Gene was an avid golfer and league bowler. He loved road trips, camping, working in his yard, and spending time with his family. He was the most positive, encouraging man of God.
Survived by his wife, Beth; his children, Mike (Cindy Hunsberger) Hoglund, Cindy (Greg) Walters, Randy (Bonnie) Hoglund, Valerie Hoglund, and Brad (Sonia) Hoglund; his grandchildren, Elissa (Tim) Lewandowski, Lindsey (Devon) Truax, Eric (Alayna) Hoglund, Max Dutenhafer, Adam (Laura) Hoglund, Madison Hoglund, Matthew Walters, Scott and Shawn Hoglund; his great-grandchildren, Lexi, Mason, Jackson, Audrina, Lukas, and Lincoln; his brothers Nels (Betty) Hoglund, and Al (Cathy) Hoglund; his sister Sharon Foster; his brother-in-law Dave Frazer and his sisters-in-law Lorraine Karolus and Marilyn Fowler; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Eunice Anderson; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Douglas and Katherine Anderson; and many dear nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his first wife, Lois; his parents; his grandson, Alex Dutenhafer; his brother Dave Hoglund; his sister, Jan Frazer; his brothers-in-law, Bill Karolus and Powell Foster.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, June 11, 2021, at Stateline Church, 601 N. Perryville Rd. Rockford. A visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday at the church before the service. Private family burial will be at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
