Erwin L. Ray, 62 of Rockford died on Monday, November 5, 2007 in his home with his loving wife Roann and son Don by his side. Born in Wyandotte, MI October 20, 1945 to Erwin and Ethel Ray. Married Roann Taylor Camfield in Palatine, May 1981. Moved to Rockford in 1987. He worked for JCPennys from 1965 to 1995 working in many different areas with last being store manager at Machesney Park and Beloit. Member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, served several years on Private Industry Council Machesney Park; United Way Board of Directors Beloit and Retail Mall Merchants President and Chamber of Commerce Vice President Loves Park. Survived by his wife, Roann; sons, Don (Pam) Ray of Rockford and Mike (Janine) Ray of Pacifica, CA; daughter, Jennifer Ray of Kentfield, CA; grandchildren, Brooke, Connor, Charlie and Natalie Ray; mother and dad Ethel (Ted) Buck of Ocala, FL; sister, Kathleen Smith of Ocala, FL; two nieces and three great nieces; father/mother-in-law, Quentin (Luella) Taylor of Hartley, IA and many brother/sister-in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in-law. Preceded in death by his father, Erwin. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Visitation on Thursday, November 8, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home and will continue on Friday from 9-9:45 a.m.. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
