Ernie J. La Marca

Ernie J. La Marca, 93, of Rockford, passed away peacefully, in his sleep Tuesday September 25, 2018. Born January 24, 1925 in Independence LA, the son of Baltasano and Antonina La Marca. Lived 80 years in Rockford, coming here from Independence LA. Married to Frances Scimeca on September 14, 1957. Veteran of World War II, serving in the Army bomb disposal squad. He was also attached to the 101st Airborne Division unit, parachuting over Utah beach during the D-Day invasion. Ernie worked as a finisher at Rockford Standard Furniture for over 20 years. He was an avid woodworker, fisherman, gardener and Bears fan. Ernie enjoyed the annual Hayward fishing trip and looked forward to pan fishing. Member of St. Bernadette Church. Survivors include wife, Frances; sons, Greg (Helen) La Marca of Rockford and Gary La Marca of Rockford; loving grandson, Adam La Marca; brother Nick La Marca (late Rosalie) of Rockford; numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to AIM. Predeceased by his parents, siblings Carl (June), Mike (Lena), Pat (Josephine), Ida (Charlie), Louise (Frank), Josephine (Jim) and Laura.

At Ernie’s request, there will be no service. Cremation rites were accorded.
