- Erminio "Lazz" Lazzerini, 92, of Loves Park peacefully passed away of natural causes on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Erminio was born May 24, 1923, in Rockford, son of Nello and Maria Lazzerini. He was married to Theresa Sparacino for 63 years until her death in 2011. As a 1st generation American, he attended East High, NIU, was a WWII Air Force Veteran, and member of the Knights of Columbus. Growing-up an entrepreneur led him to establish himself as a custom home builder for over 50 years while son, Michael worked by his side as the business grew. Besides being an accomplished bowler inducted into the USBC Hall of Fame, he liked to golf, loved dancing and was an avid gardener. A man of integrity, who cared about and enjoyed family and friends had a quest for knowledge and an endearing smirky smile. Survived by children, Mary (Robert) Baier, Georgia (Jack) Henricks, Nanci (Louis) Rotello, Michael (Susan Powers) Lazzerini and David (Dallas) Lazzerini; grandchildren, Blake, Brooke (Fillerate) Baier, Gina, Jack III Henricks, Joshua, Adam, Brittany (Zinn) Rotello, David Jr., Ryan Lazzerini; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; brother, Fred Lazzerini; sisters, Margaret Marchini, Ann Cross; and lifelong friends, Chet and Dorothy Jenkins. Dad's dry sense of humor and his informal way, will be missed by all who knew him. Don't cry because it is over...smile because it happened! Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, in St. Bridget's Catholic Church, with visitation from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
