Enrique P. Ramos

Enrique P. Ramos, 77, of Rockford, passed away on June 1, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 21, 1945, in Devine, Texas the son Santos and Rosa (Perez) Ramos. He married Sylvia Chapa in 1972 and she preceded him in death on October 22, 2022. He worked as a crew supervisor for Nicor Gas and specialized in trade welding. Enrique loved working outside and worked for the Park District as well.

He was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He was proud of his younger years when he drove big trucks and could park them anywhere. Enrique enjoyed music and to play guitar and had perfect pitch. Known as the local neighborhood handyman, he shoveled driveways, mowed yards, and watched over all his neighbors. He loved his family, and was a caring father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Enrique is survived by those who love him most, his children, Michelle Ramos, Andrew Ramos, Robert (Dalana English) Ramos and Melissa (Demarous Spates) Ramos; granddaughter, Jasmine Muhammed; great grandchildren, Amadi and Asadi Muhammed; dog, Nemo; two brothers, Tom and Peter; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; best friends, Rudy, Armando, Lynn, Lenora, Roberto (Maria), Sandy, John (Miko) and Henry (Connie); and special neighbors, Mario, Rabbit, and Denny. He is predeceased by his parents; wife, Sylvia; and sister, Rosemary “Nena” Navaro.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 5:30 – 7:00 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road Rockford 61108. A time of sharing will follow the service starting at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ramos family.
