Emily M. Goble

Emily Margaret Goble, 86, Loves Park IL, passed away on April 30, 2023. 

Born in Chicago, IL on Dec. 23, 1936, daughter of Ellis and Margaret (Halbrook) Hand. Grew up in Lansing IL. Emily graduated St. Luke’s nursing school in 1957 and moved to Los Angeles, CA. There she met Vardon Goble, and they were married on Sept 26, 1971 in Las Vegas NV. Emily worked as an industrial nurse for US Steel and BF Goodrich for many years before retiring. She and Vardon then moved to Owasso OK, where they were very active members of First United Methodist Church, volunteering at many functions. They loved to travel the country in their 5th wheel travel trailer visiting friends and family. After Vardon’s passing, Emily moved to Loves Park, IL to be closer to family. She became a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Emily never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She loved to go out to eat with friends.

She is survived by her nieces Robin (Chuck) Mann, Bonnie (Christopher) McCalmon, great nieces, Rebecca (Aaron), Nicole (Kenneth) and Amber and Brother-in-Law, Robert Powell. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, Vardon Goble and sister Ruth Powell.

Memorial service will take place at Grace United Methodist Church, 3555 McFarland Rd, Rockford IL 61114 on Saturday May 13, 2023 at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Emily's name to Grace United Methodist Church, Rockford, IL or First United Methodist Church, Owasso, OK.
