Emily Gelafio

Emily E. Gelafio 93 of Rockford passed away Sunday March 16, 2014 in Alpine Fireside. She was born November 19, 1920 in Rockford, the daughter of Rocco and Lucille Tartaglia. She married Frank F. Gelafio on April 28, 1946 in Rockford. Frank predeceased her in 1991. She worked all her life in many places. W.T. Grant, Bishop's Buffet, Owen's and JC Penny. She was a member of St. Anthony Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Emily enjoyed reading books and newspapers; she also enjoyed writing cards and letters. Loved cooking and having breakfast with her JC Penny friends. Survivors include her two children, Janice (Brian) Eber of St Charles and son Frank (Linda) Gelafio of Ft. Myers, FL. Grandchild, John Lukas of Wisconsin and two great grandchildren, John and Daniel Lukas. Two sisters, Irene Drevedahl of Loves Park and Sylvia (Harry) Wagner of Loves Park. Numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, husband Frank. Step-mother, Dina Tartaglia and brother, Victor Tartaglia.
Funeral Mass at 10am Thursday March 20, 2014 in St Anthony Catholic Church with the Franciscan Friars officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
