Elsie Louise Knack

Elsie Louise Knack, 102, Rockford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was born on October 22, 1922, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Martin and Elsie (Irion) Karasek. Elsie was a graduate of Afton High School. She married John Knack in St. Louis, MO on May 21, 1955. John passed away on October 10, 2000. She worked as a secretary for State Farm Insurance from 1977 until her retirement in 1988. She was a longtime member of our Savior’s Lutheran Church where she was active in many activities throughout the years. Elsie was a member of PEO Chapter FV, the Eastern Star and the Lt. C.A. Robert Carlson American Legion Post #1207 Auxiliary. Elsie loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survived by her daughters, Nancy Henderson of Denver, CO and Janet (Doug) Johnson of Fitchburg, WI; her grandchildren, Stephen (Sara) Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Michael (Becka) Henderson, Alison (Bryan) Teague and Andrea Henderson; her great-grandchildren, Beckett and Hudson Johnson, Aryia and Elijah Henderson, Gavin and Catherine Teague; her niece, Joanne Smith and her nephew, David Karasek. Predeceased by her husband, John; her son-in-law, Mike Henderson; her brother, Martin “Buddy” Karasek and her sister, Hermina Jenka.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 3300 Rural St. Rockford with Reverend Rob James officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1860 S.
