Elsa Gomez (Galindo)

Elsa Gomez (Galindo), 64, passed away August 15, 2021 in Bloomingdale, IL after a long battle with dementia.

Elsa was born in Mexico on February 21, 1957 to Ernesto Gomez and Manuela (Rodriguez) Gomez. She had a lifelong strong Christian faith. Elsa immigrated to the United States when she was 18 years old, eventually becoming a United States citizen. She was a stay-at-home mother who learned English by watching Sesame Street with her children. Elsa enjoyed gardening, cooking, crafting, knitting, reading and listening and dancing to music. She especially loved to watch movies at home with her family. Elsa encouraged her children and others to always do the right thing, and to not give up on goals and aspirations too easily, always keep trying. She would frequently say "After every storm, the sun always shines". Loving mother and loyal friend, Elsa will be missed deeply by all who knew her.

Elsa is survived by her children, Maria I. Galindo, Jose (Esmeralda S.) L. Galindo, Carlos (Marissa Sandoval) J. Galindo, Eliseo (Cristina) Galindo and Raquel Galindo; grandchildren, Ethan, Abigail, Leah, Erik, Frida, Damian, A-Lexa, Kyleah, Samson, Attiana, Michael and Maxine; brothers, Edmundo Gomez and Antonio Gomez; sisters, Pina Gomez, Rosa Elia Gomez and Elvira Cedillo and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents and 5 siblings.

A visitation will be held at from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108. Burial will be Friday, August 27 at 11:00 a.m. in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, 6202 Charles Street, Rockford, IL 61108. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family.
