Ellen "Jane" Welsh

Ellen “Jane” Welsh, 81, of Rockford, passed away February 6, 2018 in Rockton. Born August 4, 1936 in Dubuque, Iowa; she was the daughter of Joseph F. and Hilda (Fangman) Welchert. She married James H. “Tiger” Welsh on September 1, 1956 in Dubuque, Iowa at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.
A member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Jane was the former co-owner of Rockford Wholesale Meats. She was also a member of the Red Barn Mermaids Golf League, the Catholic Women’s League and the Venetian Club.
An avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, she enjoyed golf, baking pies, traveling and making Christmas a special event for her family.
Survivors include her children, Paula (Tom) Newberg, James (Sally) Welsh, Patricia (Scott) Anderson, Timothy (Cathy) Welsh and Peggy (Rick) Hammes; 17 grandchildren, Tommy, Jessica, Nancy, Elliot, Kata, Patrick, Matthew, Sarah, Natalie, Connor, Danny, Meghan, Joey, Ellie, Luke, Alex, and Carly; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; and 5 brothers and sisters.
Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Rev. Ricardo Hernandez officiating. Entombment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
