Ella Marie Mann, 78, Rockford, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013, in SwedishAmerican Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 7, 1934, in Chana, the daughter of August and Luella (Lawson) Heuman. Ella was a graduate of Dixon High School, class of 1952, and a proud graduate of the SwedishAmerican School of Nursing, class of 1955.She married William Mann in Rockford on November 12, 1955. Ella worked at the Lundholm Clinic for a brief time and then began her career at SwedishAmerican Hospital for over 50 years beginning in the Emergency Room and later she became a Nursing Supervisor. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Ella was a truly exceptional human being, a woman who handled the challenges of family and workplace with patience and grace. She enjoyed an active lifestyle and loved to be constantly on the go. Her loss will be deeply felt by both family and friends. At the time of her death Ella was still an employee of SwedishAmerican Hospital.
Survived by her husband of over 57 years, Bill; her children, Susan (Harry) Allen of Rockford, Steven (Trina) Mann of Rockford, and Stacey (Gary) Howle of Sarasota, Florida; her grandchildren, Jacquelyn Hutson, Nicholas Mann, Jade (Terrance, Jr.) Branney, Ruby Mann, and Kelly Howle; her great-grandson, Terrance Branney III. Predeceased by her parents and her sister, Norma Jean Dawson.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd. with Reverend Gerard Christianson officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Monday, September 9, 2013, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd and from 9:00 am to 9:45 am on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to Cardiac Rehabilitation or Caring K-9's thru SwedishAmerican Foundation, 1450 E. State St. Suite 100, Rockford, 61104 or to Holy Family Catholic Church for the soup kitchen. Share online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
