Ella Linsky Stackowicz, 102, passed from this life on April 10, 2024. She was born on January 9, 1922, in Rockford, the daughter of Charles and Sally (Waicek) Adamitis. Ella and her dear husband Bill Linsky had four daughters. Bill predeceased Ella in 1981. She later found the second love of her life John Stackowicz, adding his two sons to her beloved family. John predeceased Ella in 2011. Her parents and siblings Charles and Byron Adamitis, and Sally (Ullrich) Ross also predeceased Ella.
Ella generously gave her time as a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Altar and Rosary Society and as a church sacristan. For several years she enjoyed assisting Fr. William Collins with the church bulletin. Ella was always involved in her daughters’ activities, including their schools, Girl Scouts, and 4-H. She was a caring homemaker and an excellent cook, specializing in amazing desserts and delicious Lithuanian recipes. For several years she shared her culinary talents at the Lithuanian Club.
Ella selflessly cared for her family members. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Ella is survived by her children: Nancy (Fred) Woywod, Sally (Jerry) Guy, Sandra (Ivan) Phillips, Barbara (Roy) Fiorello, David (Dorothy) Stackowicz and Paul (Kathi) Stackowicz, her grandchildren: Tom, Jenny (Sean), Elizabeth, Christine (Deepak), James (Paula), Lisa (Jim), Roy III, and her great grandchildren: Ella, Kevin, Conor, Abby and Emma. Ella had many dearly loved nieces, nephews and friends. Her nephews, Larry (Barbara) Ullrich and Dan (Jean) Sable, held a special place in her heart.
A visitation for Ella will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr., Rockford, IL, 61109. Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial to take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
