Elizabeth Betsy M. Kerns

ROCKFORD Elizabeth M. "Betsy" Kerns, 62, of Rockford, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in Swedish American Hospital after an extended illness. She was born March 13, 1947 in Moline, the daughter of Franklin Parr Marquis and Virginia Farber Marquis. Betsy graduated from Ripon College, and she received her law degree from Duquesne University. She was a law clerk for Judge Maurice B. Cohill, Jr. of the U. S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Betsy also practiced law in Pennsylvania. Survivors include her husband, Kevin M. Kerns; son, Sean (Lisa) Kerns; stepson, Colin (Kaia) Kerns; sister, Josephine "Jody" Marquis; mother-in-law, Jeanne S. Kerns; brother-in-law, Kendal S. Kerns; and her Siberian Husky, Zoey.A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation rites accorded by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel.
