Elisabeth Lange

Elisabeth Lange, 89 (January 2, 1933), passed away on October 15, 2022. Born in Bayreuth, Germany daughter to Johann and Frieda (Braunling) Brendel.

Elisabeth met the love of her life, Heinz, in her hometown of Bayreuth. Their courtship was spent on the village dance floors in Obern and Unternschreez. Heinz immigrated to Racine Wisconsin in 1952 to set up a home for them. Elisabeth joined him in the United States a year later to be wed on November 7, 1953. Elisabeth was talented in all the domestic arts. Her skills included sewing (she was a trained seamstress), creating a wide variety of intricate needlework, and her family's favorite talent - professional baker of pies, cakes, cookies and on and on. Her passion for life extended out to nature with a deep love and connection to plants of every kind. Her home and garden were a delight to experience. Elisabeth was known for her kind, practical and accepting nature. Her quiet sophistication and patience were an inspiration for navigating life's challenges. She loved spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters Susan (Bill) Seidel of Rockford, Sharon (Tommy Osborne) Lange Nelson of Bristol Virginia, and Renee (Bart) Rinn of Algonquin; grandchildren Stephen (Jaclyn), Sean (Harper), and Seth; step-grandchildren Stephen, Amanda, and Katlyn; great-grandchildren Huxley, Hailey, and Connor; and step-great-grandchildren Xavier, Alexander, Caleb and Jacob. Predeceased by her parents, brother Hans Brendel, husband Heinz Kurt Lange and son Norbert Heinz Lange.

A visitation will take place on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald’s Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61106. A time of sharing will take place at 3:30 p.m. then resuming the visitation. Elisabeth loved all types of flowers, wildflowers and plants.
