Eleanor R. Marinelli

Eleanor R. Marinelli, 89, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014. She was born in Rockford on December 25, 1924, the daughter of Frank and Ersilia (Zimelli) Mioni. Eleanor married Ettore 'Tut' Marinelli on January 31, 1948. They spent nearly 30 years together until he preceded her in death on June 4, 1977. Eleanor worked at Sears for many years until her retirement in 1995. Eleanor's true passion in life was her family. She always looked forward to hosting family dinners, making her Italian cookies and cherished the time when everyone was together. Eleanor enjoyed crochet, sewing and traveling. She was also very fond of her frequent lunch trips to Panera. She was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, St. Bernadette Seniors, The Venetian Club and the Golden Agers.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Bernadette (Jerry) Pennington, Bruce (Sandra) Marinelli, Robert (Lassie) Marinelli, Beverly (Tim) Wilson, Rebecca (Jeff) Olson and William Marinelli; grandchildren, Katrina (Matt) Lynde, Ryan Pennington, Brett Marinelli, Adam (Lisa) Marinelli, Trent Marinelli, Terese Marinelli, Tara (Terry) Simmons and Jennifer (Jason) Hickey; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Braydon, Talia, Travis and Brody (expected in July). Brother, Anthony (Anita) Mioni; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Tut; brothers, Angelo and John Mioni; sisters, Caroline Vondra and Yolanda Doyle.
Funeral Mass at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 3, 2014 in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Visitation from 5:00- 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
