Elaine M. Swenson

Elaine M. Swenson, 92, of Rockford died Sunday January 15, 2023 surrounded by her family. Elaine was born on September 17, 1930 in Two Rivers, WI to Martin and Florence (St. Antoine) Tomchek.

Elaine was a loving and devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a very generous and strong person. She looked out for her family and was a wonderful Sunday dinner hostess. Elaine worked for Ideal Uniform Service for many years. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren. Watching them grow up kept her young and active. She kept her mind sharp by watching game shows, especially Jeopardy and The Price is Right, doing word searches, playing cards and keeping up on the latest political news.

Elaine will be dearly missed by her daughter Deborah Severson, son Drake (Chris) Swenson, Santa Fe, NM, granddaughters Sarah (Todd) Greenberg, MAJ Hannah (LTC Joe) Caldwell, Ft. Knox, KY, and her 6 “great” grandchildren Ella, Eva, Emma, Jack, Charlie, and Benjamin. Also survived by her niece Barb (Bob) Phelan, nephews Dennis Aska, Iowa City, IA and Rob (Dawn) Weaver, Gallatin,TN and several Swenson nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister Claire (Toy) Weaver, twin sister Eileen (Norm) Aska, and brother Thomas Tomchek; son-in-law Richard Severson; niece Sheila Yount and nephew Randy Swenson.

Her legacy will carry on forever, reminding us everything happens for a reason, practice makes perfect, patience is a virtue, and what's done is done and you can't undo it. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 on January 28, 2023 at Scandinavian Cemetery. Luncheon celebrating Elaine to follow at The Pomodoro.
