Eileen Margaret Monahan

April 24, 1920 — December 22, 2009

Eileen Margaret Monahan, 89, of Rockford, born April 24, 1920- at peace December 22, 2009. The daughter of Edward J. and Mary Molly (Finn) Monahan, she attended Stillman Valley High School, later graduated from Brown Business College and attended the University of Michigan. She worked as the Executive Secretary for Sundstrand Corporation in Detroit and in Rockford. Eileen was a member of the Cathedral of St. Peter, where she volunteered for the St. Anne Society. She was also a Pink Lady Volunteer for Rockford Memorial Hospital, a member of the Rockford Womens Club, an avid golfer, played tennis and loved traveling. She greatly enjoyed the arts- theatre, concerts and art exhibits.

Survivors include her twin brother Edward J. Monahan, Jr. She was the beloved Aunt to many nieces, nephews and their children. The family would like to extend a big thank you to all of Eileens caregivers at River Bluff Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Rosemary Cassell.

Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cathedral of St. Peter. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass in the church. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the River Bluff Auxiliary, 4401 M. Main St., Rockford, IL 61103.
