Eileen M. Rothstein (Schulte), 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Presence St. Anne Center on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2019. Born January 11, 1924, Eileen was the seventh child of Alex J. and Margaret (Lauer) Schulte of Marshfield, WI. After graduating from the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, MN, Eileen entered graduate school at the University of Minnesota, where she also served as a Teaching Assistant. There she met her future husband, Ralph A. Rothstein. Eileen and Ralph married on Easter Monday, 1947 in Minneapolis, MN. Eileen was a lifetime member of the Catholic Women’s League, where she chaired the newly formed Social Service Committee (now Reach Out) in 1976. She was a member of the Women’s Guild at Holy Family Catholic Church, where the Rothstein family celebrated its faith since 1964, and she was a member of the OSF Women’s Auxiliary, where she co-chaired the Pink Ball. Eileen was a faithful volunteer, Eucharistic Minister, and lector at Presence St. Anne Center since its opening. Eileen and Ralph are the parents of nine children: Mary Kris (Patrick) Derry, Rockford, IL, Gretchen Rothstein, Minneapolis, MN, Jane (Terry) Nayes, Minneapolis, MN, John (Jennifer) Rothstein, Milwaukee, WI, Anne (James) Anderson, Chico, CA, deceased son Paul (Adelheid Fischer) Rothstein, Phoenix, AZ, Gregory (Stephanie) Rothstein, Milwaukee, WI, Lucy (Todd) Allen, New Berlin, WI, and Susan (Jon) Foss, Waconia, MN. Eileen and Ralph have 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. In addition to her children, Eileen is survived by her brothers Rev. Lyle L. Schulte, Plover, WI, and James J. (Victoria) Schulte, Austin, MN. She is predeceased by her cherished husband Ralph, her son Paul, six brothers (Clarence, Maurice, Urban, Leo, Rev. O.W. Schulte, and Alex), and sister Peggy Schulte Bank. Eileen was a woman of unwavering faith and unfailing love. She spent her life serving God, caring for Ralph and their children, and offering warmth and kindness to all she met, especially the aged. She greatly enjoyed and appreciated many trips abroad with Ralph, as well as many years of family celebrations at their Lake Geneva cottage. Visitation to be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Monday, May 20, 2019, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian burial follows at 11 a.m. Private burial.
