EILEEN L. DEVINE, 75 LOVING WIFE, MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER AND FRIEND ROCKFORD - Eileen L. Devine, 75, a lifelong resident of Rock-ford, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, after suffering injuries due to a fall. Born Aug. 6, 1933, the daughter of Kermit and Lottie (Mroz) Carlson. Married to her loving husband of 57 years, Millard Devine. Eileen valued spending time with her family and she especially treasured spending time with the children in her life. She loved the years she spent working at the Stockholm Inn, but staying home to raise her children was her most satisfying joy. She was a self-sacrificing person whose passion was the life of others. Eileen always had a kind word to say and considered everyone she met to be a friend. She had the heart of a child that was seemingly unaffected by the hardness of this world. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all she met. Survived by her husband, Millard, of Rockford; sons, Patrick Devine, Noel Devine and Jeff (and wife Amie) Devine; grandchildren, Alisen Davis, Natasha Devine and Nathan Devine; special little friend, Lindy Dokken; close cousins, Tom and Colleen Stinson and Sharon Black; and a plethora of other close friends and family. Predeceased by parents; and daughter, Colleen. Matthew 22:36-40 instructs us that above all we are to love God and love others as we love ourselves. Eileen came to this world and did just that ... well done, good and faithful servant. Mission accomplished! Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, in St. James Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, with rosary recited at 7 p.m. Visitation also from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday in the church.
