Eileen E. Meier

Eileen E. Meier, 79, Rockford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at SwedishAmerican Hospital. She was born in Rockford on August 12, 1944, the daughter of LaVerne and Margaret (Hoglund) Weyburg. Eileen graduated from Rockford East High School in 1962. She went on to attend Rock Valley College where she received a nursing degree. She spent her career as a labor and delivery nurse at SwedishAmerican Hospital. Upon retirement she moved to Mesa, Arizona where she generously volunteered her time at the community Lutheran Thrift Store.

Eileen spent much of her time tending to her yard and flower gardens at her home in Rockford as well as Mesa, AZ. She loved to travel as often as she could. She was known to be quite the fisherman on trips to Wisconsin and even Canada. Over the years Eileen took in more than one stray animal, gave them love and a home. She would never turn down an opportunity to go out to eat or go shopping. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

Survived by her life partner, Marvin Proctor; her son, Bruce Brazis; her daughter, Susan (Tom) Busse; her grandchildren, Seth Busse, Nicole (Austyn) Chervenka, Anthony (Kirstin) Busse and Fayelee Brazis-Pfeiff; Marvin’s sons, Cristopher Proctor and Keith Proctor.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford with Reverend Scott Stolberg officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
