Edwin "Ralph" Schnepper

Edwin “Ralph” Schnepper, 87, of Rockford, IL passed away Monday, June 29, 2020. He was born November 18, 1932 in Bridgeport, IL the son of Edwin C. and Dorothy (Bellas) Schnepper. Ralph attended East High School graduating in 1950. He married the love of his life, Darlene (Barr) on October 1, 1955. Ralph worked at Sundstrand Aerospace as a mechanical engineer until his retirement. Ralph was a very handy man and could fix anything. His skills can be seen on various projects at St. Edward Catholic Church where he was a longtime member and usher. He was a talented wood worker and enjoyed building things. Ralph was a member of Holy Name Society. He had a heart of gold and great sense of humor. He enjoyed bowling and traveling with Darlene. Most of all, Ralph loved spending time with his family. His memory will be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Darlene; children, Shirley Syverson, Greg Schnepper, Cathy (Brendon) Curran and Kristy (Timothy) Ward; grandchildren, Stephanie Syverson, Jordan Syverson, Michaeleen (Oliver) Chmell, Ian Ward, Elise Ward; great grandchildren, Giovannina Chmell and Leopold Chmell; brother-in-law, Tom (Sue) Barr and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; siblings, Betty Eagleson, Pauline Allen, Roberta Neslund, Mary Zimmerman; sisters-in-law, Shirley Barr and Joyce Montana. The family would like to thank the staff at Independence Village for their care and compassion.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2020 at St. Edward Catholic Church, 3004 11th St, Rockford, IL 61109. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Please follow social distancing and wear a mask.
