Edward Powers

Edward Powers Jr., 78, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born on November 15, 1938 in Chicago, the son of Edward and Vera (Bergquist) Powers. Ed had a creative mind, which eventually led to his success in construction. He owned and operated Powers Builders. Aside from his work, his passions included weekends at the family cabin along the Mississippi, woodworking, boating, and sports, particularly the Chicago Bears. He had an excellent sense of humor and a strong faith in God. He will be missed by all of those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey; his children, Melissa Smith, Jennifer (Ken) Jaeger, Jim (Angela) Powers, Heather (Tyler) Pearson, Matthew Powers, and Jonathon Powers; his step-daughters, Ann (Eric) Johnson, Amy (Json) Keith, and Alison (Jeff) Janicki; 18 wonderful grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, grandson, Joseph Connar Powers, and son in-law, Kurt Smith.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial Private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family appreciated.
