Edward Loren. Hoff, 83, passed away April 10, 2022, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born October 21,1938 in Chicago Illinois, the son of Loren John Hoff and Julia Pauline Lehnert. He graduated from Saint Benedict High School in Chicago, class of 1957. Ed married Patricia Ellyn Templin, his beloved wife, of 62 years in Chicago on October 31, 1959. Ed was one of the founding fathers of Crosstown Construction Company. He was a member of the IBEW Local 134, past President of the Chicago Oilman Club. He also was a member of the Sleepy Hollow Service Club for many years and volunteered at many different organizations over the years. He was known for his work ethic which earned him several nicknames Hurricane Hoff and Big Ed. After retiring, he drove a bus for the Rockford School District and worked at PA Peterson Center for Health; where he volunteered for many years and was part of the resident’s lives. He was a very giving man and enjoyed taking care of everyone in his life. He especially loved cooking at church functions and at PA Peterson. He enjoyed fishing, trips to Door County in October with Patricia, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; children, Michael (Kimberly) Hoff, Carilyn Gabala, Edward (Jill) Hoff, Julie Hoff, Christine (Craig) Gaskill, and Loren (Amanda) Hoff; Grandchildren, Adam (Courtnie) Gabala, Zachary (Amber) McArdle, Lindsey (Jared) Motejzik, Kody (Elisa) Gabala, Noelle (Blaine) Carroll, Heather (Blaine) Fleener , Joey Cameron, Megan Hoff, Kaitlynn (Alan) Sojda, Andrew Cameron, Edward Hoff, Jarett (Johnna) McArdle, Kasey McArdle, Jake Gaskill, Josephine Hoff, and Weston Hoff; great-grandchildren, Holly, Cannon, Allison. Riliegh, Aubrey, Ila Rae, Kinsley, and Cade. Siblings, Lois, Jean, Carol, Willis (Dianne) and Richard (Margaret). Numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents and siblings Loren, Gerald, Jimmy, Nancy, Charlie, Robert and son in law Richard Gabala.
Funeral Mass will be 12 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr, Rockford, IL 61109. Visitation from 11:00 am until Noon, followed by the Mass.
