Edward Henry Kercher

Edward Henry Kercher, 78, Rockford, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at home surrounded by his family. He was born November 27, 1932, in Wolcott, IN, the son of Edward and Marie (Werner) Kercher. Edward was a 1954 graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign, and worked for Price Waterhouse accounting firm in Chicago after graduation. He then served in the Army for two years in Germany. Edward married Ulla Soderberg in Avesta, Sweden on May 24, 1959. He was self employed as a Certified Public Accountant in Rockford for 40 years. Edward and Ulla enjoyed their retirement winters at their second home in San Diego, CA. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Edward was an avid Cubs, Bears, and Bulls fan.Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ulla; daughters, Anna (Motasem) Yafi of Algonquin, Lisa Kercher of Madison, WI, son Stephen (Marley) Kercher of Neenah, WI; 4 grandchildren, Mautez and Laith Yafi, Petra and Tristan Kercher; brother, Max Kercher of St. Louis, MO; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.Memorial service will take place at 11:00am, Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd with Reverend Donald LaVelle officiating. Private family burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.
