Edward "Ed" Eggleston, 80, Rockford, died Monday, December 28, 2009, at the VA Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born November 29, 1929, in Battle Creek, MI, the son of Arthur and Charlotte (Lowe) Eggleston. Ed married Carol Baker in Kankakee on June 9, 1956. He owned Certified Technology,an electrolis nickel plating company. A veteran of the Air Force serving from 1948 until 1954. Ed was a member of Second Congregational United Church of Christ. He was a charter member of the British Boots and Bonnets Club and owned many British cars through the years. He formed the Rockford Fencing Club. Ed enjoyed playing Cribbage, listening and playing jazz music. While living in Sycamore, he coached little league baseball, was a member of the Sycamore School Board and was active in the Sycamore Music Boosters.Survived by his wife, Carol; son, Scott (Deana) of Machesney Park; daughter, Sylvia (Dean) Markley of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Anne-Marie Eggleston; grandchildren, Miles, Sarah, and Ben Eggleston, Evan and Jamie Eggleston, Ken, Phil, and Michelle Markley; great-grandchildren, Austin and Nate Eggleston; sister, Elizabeth (Daryl) Thiel; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and many special friends.Predeceased by his father, mother and step-mother, son, Matthew; 1 brother and 2 sisters.Memorial services will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108, with Rev Robert H. Rub, Jr. officiating. Private family burial a later date. Visitation will be held from 1:30 3:00pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
