Edward “Eddie” J. Didier, 60, of Rockford, died peacefully at home on Sunday, December 10, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born in Rockford on January 17, 1957; son of Ed and Mary Didier. Eddie graduated with a Business Degree from Illinois State University and initially worked for Entre Computer Solutions, then later rejoined the family business as co-owner of Didier Greenhouses, Inc. Eddie was a long-time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church then later, Holy Family Catholic Church. Eddie had a deep appreciation for those who served our country. Eddie loved to sing and appreciated a wide range of music. He enjoyed golfing, water skiing, and was a car and gun enthusiast. His spontaneous humor and sharp wit brought laughter and happiness to all, making a life-long impact on his family and friends. Eddie was a loving and generous brother and uncle, and his family will miss him dearly.
Eddie is survived by his sisters; Anne (Brian) Preston and Katie (Brian) Allison; nieces and nephews, Drew, Paul, Grace, Jacob, and Emily; and large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, Ed and Mary.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2505 School St., Rockford, IL, 61101. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL, 61103; and will continue on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Burial will follow immediately to St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rockford. Memorials may be made to the Poor Clares Corpus Christi Monastery, 2111 S. Main St., Rockford, IL, 61102.
