Edward “Ed” S. Roman, 60, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, after a hard fought battle against pulmonary fibrosis. Ed was born October 9, 1960, the son of Edward J. and Virginia (Welps) Roman. Ed attended Plainfield High School, graduating in 1978. He went on to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern Illinois University where he met the love of his life. Ed married Diane Trost on June 16, 1984. He worked for various manufacturing companies in northern Illinois over the past 30 years. Ed enjoyed fishing, playing cards, chess and grilling. He was famous for his delicious German Potato Salad. Ed was a selfless man who always put others first. He was an avid marathon runner and longtime member of St. James Catholic Church. Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Survived by his beloved wife, Diane; children, Phyllis Roman, John-Paul Roman, Christy Roman, Eddie Roman; grandchildren, Edward Roman and Aurelia Roman; siblings, Linda (Tom) Krizmanic, Paul (Becky) Roman, Barb (Kris) Siejko; father-in-law, Raymon Trost; 2 brothers-in-law and 1 sister-in-law and their spouses; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; brother, Edward J. Roman; mother-in-law, Arlene Trost. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at UW Hospital Madison.
A walk through visitation will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd, with Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m.. A private visitation and Mass of Christian Burial for family will be held Friday, March 26, 2021, at St. James Catholic Church. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
