Edward "Ed" Koscak

August 18, 1965 — December 8, 2017

Edward “Ed” Koscak passed away on December 8th, 2017 after a brave and hard fought battle against pancreatic cancer. Born August 18th, 1965 and baptized into the Catholic Church, a native of Franklin Park, IL and a resident of Rockford, IL. Devoted husband of Kathleen “Kathy” (nee Watry), adoring father of Michael and Matthew, loving son of Mark and Wanda (nee Tiedmann) of Elgin IL, loving brother of Mark (Beth) of Johnson City, TN and Jane (Mark) Bedard of Roaring Brook, PA, beloved nephew and brother-in-law, proud uncle to 18 nieces and nephews, loyal friend to many.

Known for his tall stature and deep voice, Ed was a strong leader with a kind heart and an outgoing personality. A graduate of Northern IL University with both undergraduate and graduate degrees in management and business administration, Ed worked his entire career in sales and business development. An athlete in his youth and a passionate sports fan, Ed loved coaching his sons’ sports teams when they were young. He was especially fond of his Chicago White Sox as well as the Chicago Bulls, Bears and Blackhawks. Ed could debate politics like no other and he possessed the unique ability of being able to quote any Seinfeld episode ever written.

The family would like to thank the many family and friends for their unending support and prayers over the last 15 mos. Special thanks to Dr. Richard Nora and Dr. Juliette Kalweit.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church 4401 Highcrest Rd, Rockford, IL, with a private family entombment at Memory Gardens, Arlington Heights, IL. Visitation Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108 and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude’s Children Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/give.html) Although Ed hoped that more funding would eventually go towards curing pancreatic cancer, he felt very strongly that research monies should first and foremost go to ending childhood cancers.
