Edith Marie Mcelyea

Edith Marie McElyea, 90, Rockford, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Alden Debes Rehabilitation and Health Care. She was born April 14, 1927, in Lafe, Arkansas, the daughter of Thomas Edward and Tolie Jane (Williams) Moore. She came to Rockford in 1951, from Arkansas. Edith married Clois Franklin Mc Elyea in Piggott, Arkansas on April 5, 1946. He passed away in April, 1970. Her work history included National Lock, W G Carlson, Anderson Packaging, and most recently at Quaker Oats. She retired in 1986. Edith enjoyed gardening, sewing quilts, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survived by her son, Gary (Denise) Mc Elyea and her daughter, Charlotte (Don) White, both of Rockford; her grandchildren, Kristy (Kevin Coaty) Watters, Bradley (Bonnie) White, Amy (Shane Hartje) Helms, and Karen (Hector) Lara; her great-grandchildren, Max and Madison Helms, Logan and Zoey Hartje, Benjamin, Andrew, Anthony, Joey Lara, Brandy Watters, and Russell (Jennifer) Watters, Breanna (Tanner) Smith and Taylor White; her great-great- grandchildren, Kynlee Smith, Izak Lara, Eric Fletcher Jr, Zanay Williams, Layla and Lydia Watters; many extended grandchildren that loved her and called her G.G.; her brother, Virgil Moore; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Clois; her brothers and sisters, Gladys Moore, Clara Williams, J. D. Moore, Lola Moore, Cora Kilbreath, Clarence Moore, Dorothy Grubb, and Desma Herren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 9, 2017, at New Milford United Methodist Church, 7102 Cindy Drive, Rockford, 61109. Burial will be in New Milford Cemetery.
