Edgar Baggett, 86 of Rockford passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in Amberwood Care Center surrounded by his family. Born August 24, 1923 in Dickson, Tennessee, the son of Edgar and Ethel (Perry) Baggett. He married Marion Wright in Rockford on October 30, 1959. Edgar worked for Dynaclean for 25 years before his retirement. He was a member of Riverside Assembly of God Church and the Civil Conservation Corp. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and selling his wiggle worm lures. Over the years, Edgar collected hundreds of thousands of pop tabs for St. Jude.Edgar is survived by his wife Marion, children Wanda (Harry) Powers, Pam (Jim) Ellis, Debbie Coleman, Charles (Marilyn) Baggett, Beverly Coleman, Mary Smith, Charles Baggett, Evie (Lohn) Webster, Luann Caltagrone, James (Linda) Baggett, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Brothers Guy and Robert Baggett. Sisters Margaret Edwards, Hazel Hafner, Ruth Bess, June Baskin and Mary D. Aman. He is predeceased by his parents and brother Jimmy. The family would like to give special thanks to hospice and the staff at Amberwood Care Center for the love and support they provided to Edgar and his family. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Riverside Assembly of God Church, 4242 W. Riverside Blvd., Rockford, IL 61101, with Pastor James Moore and Pastor Truman Turner officiating. Visitation will be Monday, January 11, from 6:00 8:00 p.m. in the church and will continue Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until time of services. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL 61103.
