Earl G. Traeger

Earl G. Traeger, 76, of Loves Park, IL went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2008 at Rockford Memorial Hospital.  Earl was born January 23, 1932 in Rock Island, Il the son of Earl Carrington and Mamie (Houston).  Earl married Doris Logsdon in Litchfield, IL on April 19, 1952.   Earl was a proud veteran and enlisted in the United States Naval Reserves from July 18, 1950 until August 25, 1952 and then enlisted in the United States Army from August 26, 1952 until August 6, 1960, having served in Germany.  He attended Rock Valley College where he received his Automotive Degree and worked as a security guard for Barber Colman, worked in the sheet metal shop at WF & John Barnes and retired after working in the maintenance department at the Rockford Country Club. Earl was a past Commander with the American Legion Post No. 904, a member of the Loves Park V.F.W. Post No. 9759, a former scout leader in Loves Park and a member of the Loves Park Senior Care.  Earl loved fishing, was a great conversationalist, a St. Louis Cardinals Fan, a Coca-Cola collector and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.   Earl is survived by his wife, Doris of 56 years of marriage; his daughters, Tina Pace and Sheryl (Dan) Morgan; his son, Anthony (Pam) Traeger; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  Earl was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. Earls family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Skuli Agustsson, Dr. Peter Marks, Dr. Richard Hayes, Dr. Leela Narra, the nursing staff on E-4 and the Rockford Memorial Hospital Emergency Room Department for all of their compassionate care.   Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.  Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL.  Visitation will be on Monday from 9:30 until time of service.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.  Family and friends may
