E. Katherine Reid

E. Katherine Reid, 87, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

Kathy was born in Loudon County, Virginia on January 21, 1936, daughter of Alpheus Robey and Marguerite Pomeroy. She graduated from Ambler High School in Pennsylvania, Class of 1954 where she was a member of the rifle team. Kathy worked as a secretary and was the first female promoted to the Supervisor position at Chroma Tube located in White Mills, PA. She married Robert Reid on July 1, 1972, and moved to Illinois shortly after. Kathy enjoyed listening to country music as well as singing and yodeling together with her mother. She loved her Sunday morning crossword puzzles, jig saw puzzles, crafting, baking and bowling. Most of all, she cherished her time spent with family and spoiling her grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her children, Cindy Gibson, Tammy Mack, Lisa Wennmacher, George (Lori) Mack, Robert (Linda) Reid, Elaine Reid Milman, Donna (Joseph) Tensuan and Christina (Scott) McDowell; sister, Judith (Charles) Mills and brother, Sonny (Jeannie) Robey; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Robert; sisters, Jean Koffel, Sammy Bodick and Patsey Iden.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Monday, May 8, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kathy’s name to the Special Olympics.
