E. Donald Van Den Broeke, 92, Rockford, passed away Monday, August 31, 2020, at Independence Village. He was born October 7, 1927, in Green Valley, MN, the son of John and Aldea (Dandurand) Van Den Broeke. Don was a veteran serving in the Navy during WWII. He married Jeanette M. Stickley on November 29, 1952, in Owatonna, MN. Don worked as a printer for the Rockford Newspaper and later for Woodward Governor retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and was a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Muldoon Council 470 and a 4th degree member of the General Assembly 190. Don was very active in the Spirit of Medjugorje prayer group from 1989 to 2004.
Survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jeanette; his son, Daniel “Dan” (Mary) Van Den Broeke of Roscoe; his grandson, Matthew (Cynthia) Van Den Broeke; his great-grandchildren, Rebekah, Bethany, and Nathan; his brothers, Leon (Marian) Van Den Broeke of MN and Lloyd Van Den Broeke of Springfield, MO; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, an infant son, Stephen Joel and 3 brothers, Bernard, Henry, Edgar, and his sister, Louise. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 4, 2020, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Av. Loves Park, IL. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. a walk through visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.
