LOVES PARK Dyne V. Bowers, 86, died Saturday after a brief illness. Born February 22, 1923, in Rockford to Dr. L.L. Bowers & Mabel (Marpe) Bowers. Married Glenese (Hansen) Bowers on September 6, 1946 in Rochelle. Member of Centennial United Methodist Church, member of the Moose Club, former member of Antique Automobile Club and Junior Achievement volunteer. Employed by Sundstrands Aviation as an Industrial Engineer, Graduate of Rockford Central High School and the University of Illinois. Army Veteran of WWII, Fought in the Battle of Bulge, wounded in both legs almost losing one leg, spending 6 months in a Paris Hospital, Purple Heart recipient. He truly enjoyed living on the river, boating and was quite the car enthusiast. He loved dancing and once won a dance contest. He loved a good cigar and was rarely seen without one. Survived by daughters, Janet (Leonard) Hahn, Kathryn (Ronald) Broaddus, Debra (Robert) Herrick, grandchildren Brock and Randy Bakkelund, Jason, Jennifer, and Julie Broaddus. Predeceased by parents, wife and brother, Dale B. Bowers.Funeral services Tuesday, Oct. 6 th , 11:00am at Riverside Community Church, 6816 N. 2 nd St., Machesney Park.
