Dwight O. Alton, 73, left this earth on Sunday, October 23, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born on March 23, 1943 in Hillsboro, WI, the son of O’Neil and Evelyn (Roberts) Alton.
In his young adult years, he served in the United States Airforce. Later, he worked for several years as a machine operator at Roper Whitney in Rockford and finished his career at SPX Hydraulics.
Dwight was an avid outdoorsman, never missing an opportunity to go eagle watching, fishing or bat counting. He was a master naturalist, volunteering where needed to preserve the natural ecosystem for future generations. He also had a passion for photographing wildlife and often gifted his framed photos to family who shared his love of nature.
He had many hobbies, including reading, astronomy, camping in the Baraboo area for many summers and entertaining family members with his Halloween antics. Dwight may never have been a teacher but he taught his grandchildren many things. He will be missed.
Dwight will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife, Jackie; his children, Diana Johnson, Debbie (Mike) Reinert, Dallas Yeager, Steven Yeager, and Stephanie Yeager; 6 wonderful grandchildren; and 3 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family services were held and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
