Duane K. Malmquist

Duane K. Malmquist, 67, Rockford, died peacefully in his sleep at home on Friday, August 10, 2012. Born December 3, 1944 in Peru, IL, son of Kenneth E. and Iva (Mae) Malmquist. Rockford resident since 1960, graduating from Auburn High School in 1962. Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. Married Kitty Cropp on May 13, 1992. For the past 16 years he had been employed by Columbia Pipe and prior to that he was employed by Valley Furnace for 29 years. Duane was the most loving and giving person. He was totally devoted to his wife, stepchildren, sister, niece and his precious pets, Buddy, Tippy and Otis. This loyalty overflowed to his many friends. He shared many hours talking about their common interests. He could also go on for hours talking about classic cars, farming, favorite tractors and pets. He was very involved in the "Late Great Chevy Club" and the "Northern Illinois Vintage Tractor and Engine Association ". Duane helped everyone in need; family, friends or strangers. He was so loved and treasured he will be forever remembered and missed by many Survivors include his wife, Kitty; stepson, Daniel Cramer; stepdaughter, Sheri Cramer; sister, Ember (Bill) Farris; niece, Maggie Farris; several cousins and many, many friends. Predeceased by his parents. A celebration of Duane'¢s life will be at noon on Saturday, August 18, 2012 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
