Dr. Lawrence G. Clark, DVM, 77of Rockford died peacefully at home on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 after a long illness. Born Dec. 31, 1930 in Rockford the son of Melvin and Edna (Lagerman) Clark. Graduate of East High School and University of Illinois where he received his Bachelors and Veterinarian Medicine degree. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in the Korean Conflict. Married his loving wife Leslie Reid on July 27. 1953 in Rockford. Lawrence worked as a professor at the University of Pennsylvania and performed research in the rainforests of Niceragua studying leptospirosis. After his research was complete he returned home and went back into private practice. Survivors include his wife of 55 years Leslie of Rockford; children, James of FL, Lisa Florczak of MO and William (Lizbeth) of FL; daughter-in-law, Linda Clark of FL; son-in-law, Mark Florczak of Glendale Heights; special daughter, Wanda Myers of NY; grandchildren, Brian, Lindsay, Laura Jane, Kelsey, Mark, Lauren and Reid. Preceded in death by his parents, son, John B. Clark and brother Melvin Keath Clark. The family would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to VNA Hospice. Memorial service Saturday, Oct. 11 at 11:00 a.m. at 3rd Presbyterian Church, 1221 Custer Ave. Inurment will follow at Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation from 10 until time of service at the church.
