Dr. Adam M. Van Den Boom

February 21, 1981 — February 15, 2021

Dr. Adam M. Van Den Boom, of San Antonio, TX passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, February 15, 2021. Adam was born in Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, MS, on February 21, 1981. Adam passed during an extended visit with his father, Terrance (Terry) Van Den Boom, and mother, Pamela (Pam) Van Den Boom, of Cherry Valley, IL. Adam graduated high school from the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in 1998. Earned a BS in Chemistry from Loyola University, New Orleans, in 2002, and a Doctorate degree from Tulane University, New Orleans, in 2007. After graduation Adam started his military service with the US Navy, assigned as the first doctor aboard the newly launched USS New York. Following over two years of service aboard the USS New York, Adam was stationed in Norfolk, VA, where he completed a residency in Pediatrics. From Norfolk, Adam transferred to Twenty-Nine Palms, CA, where he served the remainder of his eleven years of service: separating from the Navy in 2018. Following his separation from the Navy, Adam relocated to San Antonio, TX, and continued practicing Pediatrics as the caregiver of newborns within the maternity wards of several local hospitals.
Adam was a voracious reader his entire life and books were his number one indulgence. Adam loved to travel with friends, enjoyed dining out, and loved watching movies. Adam fulfilled his love of baking by making treats and deserts for the doctors and nurses he worked with. Adam loved bright colors and his wardrobe consisted predominately of NorthFace hoodies and Hawaiian shirts. Generous to a fault Adam loved giving unique and special gifts.
Adam will always remain within our hearts and shall forever be remembered as a loving and caring Son, Brother, and Friend.
We will not say goodbye.
We will never stand alone.
With every breathe and step you will always be by our side.
Forever in our hearts.
Knowing that you are loved.
Never to be forgotten.
The memories of you will keep us until again we meet.
On that day, we will joyfully embrace, and share in God’s promise.
Left to cherish Adam’s memory are his beloved parents, Terry and Pam Van Den Boom, a younger brother, Zachary (Holly) and sons, Alex, Mason, and Matty (Belvidere, IL). Grandmother, Twilla May Van Den Boom, (Essexville, MI). Grandfather, James (Connie) Niedzwiecki (Bay City, Michigan). Uncle, Gary (Cindy) Van Den Boom (CA). Cousins Mindy & Nicki Van Den Boom, and Jordan & Paige Baumer, and three very dear and special friends, Kristie Dore, Carey Welsh, and Ashley Coffee. Predeceased by his Grandfather, Donald Van Den Boom; Grandmother, Patricia Niedzwiecki; and Aunt, Julie Baumer.
Due to the realities of COVID-19, no visitation or services are planned at this time. The family will hold a memorial in celebration of Adam’s life at a future date. Family and friends are encouraged to leave final messages, memories, and condolences with Fitzgerald Funeral Home via www.fitzgeraldfh.com. In honor and remembrance of Adam, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
