Douglas Knight

Douglas Knight, 74, of Rockford passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017 surrounded by his family at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born on June 26, 1943 in Kirksville, MO, the son of Verda Knight. He was a member of the Wyaconda Christian Church and active in the youth group of the church. On July 24, 1965 he married the love of his life, Kathie Riddle, in Chillicothe, MO. The two relocated to Rockford shortly thereafter to raise their family. He worked in customer service at Greenlee Textron for nearly 45 years before his retirement. He was an avid fisherman, and car enthusiast. Above all else, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother in-law.

He is survived by his wife, Kathie; his children, Paula (Troy) Jackson, Beth (Jeremy) Charlton, and David (Laura) Knight; his grandchildren, Alex, Andrea, and two more on the way; his much loved mother in-law, Reba Skinner; brothers in-law, Donald (Mary) Riddle, and Roy (Connie) Riddle; sister in law, Marty (Kent) Lehnhoff; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother, Verda and father in-law, Eldon Riddle.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel. A visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family appreciated. Express online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
