Dorothy M. “Sal” Steinkamp, 98, of Loves Park, Illinois, passed away March 16, 2020. She was born in Otho, IA on February 1, 1922, the daughter of William H. and Elizabeth (George) Wright. Dorothy was raised in the Lutheran faith. She worked many years as a lunch lady at Charles City Community High School in Charles City, Iowa as well as a homemaker and active supporter of the school and its functions. In later life, she was a member of the Woman’s Club of Naperville. She is survived by her son, Thomas (Michelle) Steinkamp; daughter-in-law Marilyn Steinkamp; grandchildren, Debbie (Jason) Donlea, Will (Bethany) Steinkamp, Hillary (Nathaniel) Burren, Hannah (Brian) Knuth and Craig Steinkamp; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Lauren, Cael, Caden and Easton; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wright and Joyce Wright, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents as well as her husband, Frederick Eugene “Curly” Steinkamp; her eldest son, David Steinkamp, and her two brothers, William Wright Jr. and Harold Wright. The family extends a special thank you and acknowledgement to the staff of Lincolnshire Place in Loves Park as well as Transitions Hospice Care for their kind and loving care and friendship. A private family service will be held at a later date in Iowa. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers a memorial can be made to either the Alzeimers Foundation in her name or a donation may be sent to the family to be addressed to Lincolnshire Place, A Memory Care Facility located in Loves Park, IL.
