Dorothy M. Kampmeier

Dorothy M. Kampmeier, 91, of Rockford, passed away peacefully surrounded by family August 31, 2018 in Winnebago. Born March 15, 1927 in Neponset; she was the daughter of Timothy and Elizabeth (Pettit) Driscoll. She married Carl Kampmeier on April 20, 1946 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rockford.
Dorothy was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Ladies of Columbus. She was also a member of Catholic Charities for 52 years having nurtured and cared for more than 200 children along with raising 13 of her own. She was a former employee of Amerock Corporation during WWII and Colonial Catering.
An avid Chicago Cubs fan, Dorothy enjoyed singing, gardening, canning, traveling, cruises, gambling and most of all, raising her children and several grandchildren.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Carl “Tim” (Melody) Kampmeier, CiCi Kuczynski-Robinson, Cynthia Wilson, Catherine MacKenzie, Margaret (William) Clothier, Patricia Lawrence, Pamela (Wes) Haas, Michael (Maria) Kampmeier, Mark (Lori) Kampmeier, Mary (Jack) Kaiser and Jacqueline Coppelman; 39 grandchildren, 63 great-granchildren and 4 great, great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, children, Joseph and Theresa Kampmeier; grandsons, Craigie and Jason MacKenzie and 6 brothers and sisters.
Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2018, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 505 School Street, Rockford. Visitation from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue, Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice Care of America, 3815 N Mulford Rd # 4, Rockford, IL 61114. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Winnebago.
