Dorothy Louise Baker Chambers, 100, died peacefully and was called home on Friday, April 8, 2016. Dorothy was born on January 25, 1916, in Chicago, Illinois; to parents, LeRoy Edmonds and Lillian Louise (Logan) Baker. She received her Master's Degree from Northern Illinois University in Dietary Science, and worked promoting health and wellness for many years. Dorothy struggled with Alzheimer's Disease in her final years and always found the strength to cope with her illness with grace. No matter how much she lost, Dorothy was still able to connect and impact those she knew and met. Dorothy will forever be remembered as a wonderful mother and friend. She is survived by her loving daughter, Susan Chambers. The Chambers Family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the Visiting Nurses Association, River Bluff Nursing Home, and to Dorine Archer for all of their selfless care and loving kindness. A private service will be held at a later date at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 412 N. Church St., Rockford, IL, 61103. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to Visiting Nurses Association, 4223 E. State St., Rockford, IL, 61108. Fitzgerald Funeral Home assisted the Chambers Family.
