Dorothy I. Ebens

Dorothy I. Ebens, 97, Rockford, passed away Friday, January 20, 2012, at SwedishAmerican Hospital. She was born January 14, 1915, in Creston, the daughter of John and Marie (Steinsbo) Vogle. Dorothy married Raymond J. Ebens in Lindenwood on November 17, 1934. Ray passed away in Rockford on November 11, 2005. She worked at NyLint Corp for many years and then at Rockford Products until her retirement. Dorothy was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church for over 75 years where she volunteered in many activities at church and received her 50 year Bible from the church. She enjoyed baking, especially cookies, pies and cakes. She loved spending the holidays with her family.Survived by her son, Dennis (Cindy) Ebens and her daughter, Shirley Boomgarden, both of Rockford; grandchildren, Erin and Ryan (Oana) Ebens, Steven(Jan) and Jon (Linda) Boomgarden; greatgrandchildren, Alex, Abby, Nicole, and Kyle Boomgardner and Zoe and Noelle Ebens; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Ray, her parents, and brother and 4 sisters.Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd with Reverend Woody Knutson officiating. Burial in Monroe Center Cemetery. Visitation from 10:00 am until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
