Dorothy F. Mccoy Sullivan

Dorothy F. McCoy Sullivan, 93, Rockford, died February 4, 2008 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born in the same hospital on August 10, 1914, daughter of Frank and Alta Strong McCoy. Graduated from Belvidere High School in 1934 and prior to her marriage she worked at F.W. Woolworth Co. in Belvidere. On August 1, 1942 she married Eugene B. Sullivan at St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere. Dorothy was very involved in music; she played the trumpet in high school and played drums in an all-girls band. She also sang in the choir at St. Rita Church for many years. She loved flowers and animals and enjoyed oil painting, crewel and ceramics. She was always supportive of the Girl Scouts and the highlight of her life were her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Sue Sullivan (Joe) Scordato; grandchildren, Joseph (Maureen) Scordato, Nancy (Scott) Chachula, Peter (Angela) Scordato, Ted (Lori) Scordato, John (Suzy) Scordato, Mary Jo (Scott) LeGrand, Kathryn (Jimmy) Sartino and Timothy Scordato; 22 great-grandchildren with another one expected in May. Predeceased by her husband, Eugene Sullivan, her parents, Frank and Alta McCoy, her daughter, Carol Ann Sullivan and her brothers, Kenneth McCoy and Bill McGraw. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2008 in St. Rita Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Camaioni officiating. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Mass at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, Masses for Dorothy will be appreciated. Arrangements were completed by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
